Original packaging
Packaging preserves language that can be lost when lures are studied on their own.
- Visible evidence
- The legible product list includes Wonder Spoons, Weedless Wonder Spoons, Surface Lures, minnows, flies, fly rods and casting rods.
- Interpretive limit
- A product category printed on a box supports its association with the company’s offered range. It does not establish that Lauby manufactured every listed item in-house.

A record of commercial ambition
The boxes name a wider tackle range than the familiar spoon alone. The catalog reproduction confirms offerings of minnows, fly-rod spoons, casting rods, and flies alongside the casting lures. Slusar discusses both printed boxes and later orange packaging in relation to production changes. 1939 catalog, reproduced in Slusar, pp. 369–371; Slusar, p. 372.
Packaging supplies product language and context. It does not establish that a loose lure and a particular box originally belonged together.
